Christy Ikezi founded 2nd Story Bakeshop in 2012 with the aim of providing delicious organic pastries to the San Jose area. 13 years of working in a Silicon Valley office had left her with a desire to spend her time crafting something she could be proud of, and with growing concerns about the availability of ethically produced food in the South Bay, organic baking seemed the perfect project. After putting in several years at various Bay Area kitchens and bakeries, she set out on her own "2nd Story," beginning with selling her organic pastries and granola at Farmer's Markets in San Jose and Los Gatos.

In 2013, Christy invited long-time baking colleague Cailin Bryant to create a bread baking branch of 2nd Story, leading to a wild array of unusual and playful hearth-style loaves. 

Cailin and Christy share a devotion to using organic ingredients sourced as locally as possible. They are proud to use eggs, dairy, fruits and herbs from the many fantastic organic farms in the greater Bay Area.
